Thanks for the ideas! As if I need to add more books to my stack just yet...
I really liked The Picture of Dorian Gray
@suggestivetongue - Link me to your list again?
@xthread - You can see the stacks here: http://www.xanga.com/suggestivetongue/694233934/lorelei/ and there is also a list of a few of them on the left hand side of my blog.
@suggestivetongue - oh alright. thanks.
The ones you didn't put finish are the ones you read or want to read?
I've only read a couple of these books, but I can tell you this: Life of Pi is DEFINITELY worth your time. I guess you already know that since you're planning on reading it, but be excited. It's excellent.
I need to read Ordinary People. We watched the movie in Psychology and I loved it.
@pureboy123 - Want to read. And the ones with the word Finish mean I'm currently in the middle of them.
@xthread - since you're reading them all. might as well start somewhere. read life of pi.
@pureboy123 - I have absolutely no interest in fiction right now. I want to absorb knowledge knowledge knowledge. I can't slow down enough to read a fiction work right now. I will read it eventually.
I liked the Glass Castle. Also, Ordinary People was good. Life of Pi was horrible. Well, I had to read it 2 years in a row as required reading (i transferred to a school that made me read it again) so at 15 and 16 i couldnt stand it,
I hardly ever read...that's so horrible of me.
There's a few things my attention span allows me to get through though.
I love, love, love Oscar Wilde. Picture of Dorian Gray is one of the few books I've read many times. One of the few authors I think I've read like...everything he's written. lol
I couldn't get into Life of Pi, but I have the attention span of gnat. A for effort?
haha cool.
The Stranger and the Picrure of Dorian Gray= amazing.
But if you're looking for more Christianity books, Death by Love is a reall good one. It's fairly new and it was written by some pastors. They are actually letters to people who have come to them with problems. They cover just about everything. I thought it was pretty great.
Would The Stranger be Albert Camus? Cause if so, it's one of my favorites. The opening line is one of my favorite opening lines of any novel ever.
Just recently read The Glass Castle, and I think it'll probably change at least a little bit of your life. Dorian Gray is just lovely - Oscar Wilde is a card.
If you like In-Transit, I suggest Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance.
This list reminds me that I ought to read more non-fiction.
I'm about the start the Stranger, I bought A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius yesterday, the Glass Castle was amazing and I loved it, Curious Incident was an amazing book because of how interestingly it was written, and the Alchemist is touching and adorable. The rest I have regrettably not gotten around to, but they're on my list <3
dorian. gray. instant. orgasm.
everything is contained in that book. EVERYTHING.
And I thought I had a big list of books to read!
You're doing great . . . I was supposed to work my way through all the Pulitzer Prize winners I hadn't read yet . . . not going so well . . . .: (
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is an amazing book. I don't read very much off the internet, but that one... I'm glad I read it.
The Stranger is an absolutely fantastic book. Camus's philosophy about life and absurdity are at first hard to wrap one's mind around, but I swear that that book changed my life. It was extremely simple, but the social boundaries that it breaks so easily and nonchalantly are really numbing to the psyche.
I really must start The God Delusion; my rabbi's husband converted to atheism after he read it. I'm excited for it.
